About Fenland Garage Doors
Ray
and Ellie Arnold started Fenland Garage Doors 24 years ago
in Southery (on the A10 just south of Downham Market).
The main bulk of the business then consisted of security and the servicing of high volume entrance doors to high street shops, banks, hospitals and the University of Cambridge.
Fenland "Garage Doors" really came into its own,
when the 1980's recession hit the country and high street
shops tightened their purse strings and stopped spending on
maintenance.
At the end of the recession this side of the business had proved so successful the company decided to expand and go 100 per cent into providing a good garage door service to the general public, as well as builders.
By this time Paul Arnold, Ray & Ellie's son had joined
the enthusiastic family team.
Fenland Garage Doors is still at the same premises, and now
employs 12 people. The natural growth of the business over
the years still continues at a cracking pace and new premises
are now being actively sought.
The company business is "garage doors" and what
ever else is needed in that area, whether it is spares, a
repair to a garage door or a new door, with or without automatic
operation. The range of doors available is impressive and
has improved considerably in the way of technology over the
last few years. All these new innovations are on working display
in the Southery showroom.
The company serves local builders and large construction firms,
and supplies bulk orders to developers as well as the general
public.
All their work carries a substantial guarantee (some
doors up to 10 years). All work is carried out to the
same exacting standards and no work is contracted out. Should
a problem arise, there is a dedicated service vehicle, which
also covers the area on a daily basis carrying out repairs.
The company insists on a high level of workmanship and this is maintained through an ongoing training programme.
For the correct and safe installation of automatic door systems, the engineers all go through an electrical training course carried out by The Association of Garage Door Specialists. The engineers are also independently trained to Construction Industry standards for health and safety and in all aspects of current legislation to comply with E.E.C. Machinery Directives and the whole staff recently qualified as Appointed Persons in First Aid.
Fenland
Garage Doors is a member of The Association of Garage Door
Specialists (AGDS), which they joined 10 years ago when a
group of serious minded garage door businesses got together
and formed the association with the aim to raise the standards
of professionalism with in the garage door industry and to
also give customers an independent avenue of complaint.
The company motto -"At the end of the day
all we want is happy customers who will recommend us to others"
- has certainly paid off.
A recent survey of customer satisfaction showed that of the last 500 customers 350 had used Fenland because of recommendation or had used them in the past and returned for another door.
The company is so confident in it's work that it is their policy not to ask for deposits or any money until the job is finished. They can be that confident because they will not supply anything that they feel will lead to disappointment.
